T he ferry was docked in Rosslare Harbour when it is alleged that the victim, believed to be in her 30s, was sexually assaulted by an older man. A garda spokesman yesterday confirmed that officers are investigating an allegation of the rape of a female by a male in an incident that allegedly happened between midnight and 5am last Wednesday. The woman and her alleged attacker are both understood to have attended a Christmas party on the ship. Sources said they were two of more than 50 people - the vast majority of them foreign nationals - who were on the ferry while it was docked in the Co Wexford port because there were no ferry crossings on Christmas Day or St Stephen's Day from Rosslare to Pembroke in Wales. Gardai were not immediately notified of the incident, and the vessel set sail from Rosslare to Wales days later. However, during the four-hour crossing, it is understood the woman told staff about her alleged Christmas Day ordeal at the port.

These charges were the result of an ongoing investigation encompassing the entire Lake of the Ozarks region, including Camden, Miller, and Morgan counties. According to the probable cause documents for the arrest and charging of Mort and Wedeking, the alleged victim said she had met Mort and Wedeking at Coconuts Bar in July of and they had presented themselves as brother and sister. The woman said she got on the Mort and Wedeking's boat with two other people, to go with them to Shady Gators, but Mort and Wedeking said they had to stop at their dock first, at Millstone Marina. She alleges Wedeking invited her onto another boat, where she said Wedeking offered her cocaine and then held her on a bed while Mort raped her, and Wedeking sexually assaulted her. The woman said she asked for a bottle of water after the alleged rape and when Mort went to retrieve it, she ran, leaving her cover-up skirt behind. Authorities say they found the skirt as well as cocaine and ecstasy on the boat. According to the probable cause document, Mort said he and Wedeking had been married in the past and were now back together; he acknowledged having sex with the alleged victim but he and Wedeking both insisted the sex was consensual, though their stories about the encounter differed. Investigators from the Division of Drug and Crime Control are requesting anyone who has information about any sexual assaults that may have occurred over the past five years in the Lake of the Ozarks region to please come forward.
